We Together by Henry Kaplan (2016) [Short Film Review]

I first saw this brief but brilliant short film last year on Short of the Week. I’ve now seen it maybe 6 or 7 times total, and I love it more with every watch. It’s just mesmerizing to me, truly. The horror genre can seem oversaturated with zombies at times, but Henry Kaplan shows them with fresh perspective, merging the typical bloody action with what is, essentially, a music video. It manages to take 7 minutes and use it perfectly, eliciting a surprising amount of emotion with its underlying message of how enduring our humanity is (and showing off some killer dance moves to some incredible music by Kerron Hurd, too). Fantastic.
